A raw, brutal and almost cartoonish indictment of greed.
The figure - a phallic figure in dinner jacket - sits at a table overflowing with food, wine, beer and plenty. Everything is about consuming. More, more, more. The red background feels intense and restless, like a visual translation of gluttony that never gets satiated.
The use of a penis as a character is confrontational, comical and deliberately uncomfortable. Precisely because of this, it exposes the core: greed sometimes makes us grotesque, bloated and far removed from our true humanity. The wine in one hand, the meat in the other - it is a ritual of excess, as if the character loses himself in what he thinks he needs.
The striped dinner jacket and bow tie give it an ironic chic: luxury as a mask for emptiness. Behind the humorous surface is a serious message about immoderation, self-control and the human tendency to want to fill what is actually empty inside.
A snappy, bold work of art that does exactly what it is supposed to do - poke, laugh, and then make you think.
