Great Alexander Parakeet (illustration).
The great alexander parakeet is an exotic species from the Kashmir region of South and Southeast Asia, brought to Europe. The bird is named after Alexander the Great and was probably one of the first species of parakeets kept in Europe as a caged bird. Nowadays, you also see these birds a lot in the wild, which is why they are also called urban parakeets. In the parks in big cities like Amsterdam and The Hague, chances are you can spot an Alexander parakeet, and this piece is one of a series of four Alexander parakeets. They all look alike, but are just a tad different. For the other works, type "Great Alexander Parakeet" in the search bar. Super colourful, very nice on the wall!
