Brilliant idea to hang the Christmas lights in the trees along Amsterdam's Spiegelgracht already while the yellow-coloured leaves were still in them. That contrasts super with the sky in the blue hour, and it gives the facades of the diverde art galleries a nice golden glow. As far as I'm concerned, they can implement this tree lighting all over the Grachtengordel, it will only make the already beautiful Amsterdam city centre even more beautiful. :D
Fortunately, there was little wind on this particular Saturday evening in the autumn, and no boats passed by either, so the lighting from the trees also reflected beautifully in the water of the Spiegelgracht, located opposite the Rijksmuseum.
The Spiegelgracht, at about 100 metres one of the shorter canals in Amsterdam's city centre, is an important traffic artery for cyclists in particular from Amsterdam-Zuid to Amsterdam's city centre and vice versa, and don't blame them with this sight.
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam is one of 16 national museums in the Netherlands. Its collection offers an overview of Dutch art and history, including works by 17th-century Dutch masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer and Hals. The museum has been housed since 1885 in the Rijksmuseum building designed by Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers.
Bring purely the goodness of autumn into your home with this blue hour evening photo of Amsterdam.
