San Francisco is one of my favourite cities to photograph. The city offers a plethora of iconic locations, but the Golden Gate Bridge remains the ultimate subject for me. This photo was taken during an enchanting sunrise from Battery Spencer, one of the best vantage points for landscape photography in San Francisco.

As always, I arrive well before first light. This gives me the calm to explore the surroundings, determine my composition and set up my camera carefully. From Battery Spencer you have a spectacular panoramic view of the bay and the bridge. For this shot, I chose a zoom lens to visually compress the bridge and create a powerful image in which the towers are nicely aligned with the rising sun.

During sunrise, the sky turns into a palette of warm hues, from orange to purple-blue. The bridge is bathed in this light, providing a beautiful contrast to the cool waters of the bay. By using a slower shutter speed, the water took on a silky smooth look, which blends nicely with the robust structure of the bridge and the rocks in the foreground.

This photo is ideal as a wall decoration for your home or office. The image exudes tranquillity and brings the magic of San Francisco into your home. I do the post-processing as always in the Netherlands, with great attention and passion. With my Wacom tablet, a good cup of coffee and fine music in the background, I bring the feeling of that morning back to life.
