Georg Schrimpf (Munich, Bavaria, Germany, 13 February 1889 - Berlin, 19 April 1938) was a German painter. He is considered part of the Neue Sachlichkeit movement.
n northern Italy, he befriended the writer Oskar Maria Graf in an anarchist colony. During World War I, he managed to stay out of military service for health reasons and lived in Berlin. During this time, he started painting. Completely self-taught, he copied Dutch masters, as a livelihood. In 1921, he joined the 'Neue Sezession'.
