My Ode to Bauhaus
My latest artwork is a celebration of the Bauhaus movement, a style that continues to inspire me for its balance between form and functionality. Built from geometric shapes, this work is characterised by a bold use of primary colours - red, yellow and blue - complemented by black, white and green. The result is a powerful yet simple composition that embraces the essence of Bauhaus.
The Bauhaus movement is known for its commitment to minimalist designs in which every line and shape has a purpose. In this composition, circles, squares and straight lines play a central role. The shapes flow into each other, creating a rhythm that invites the viewer to explore the connections between them. The clean geometric shapes are enhanced by the use of colour, with the primary tones coming across as bright and full of energy.
Creating this work was a process of seeking balance: each shape and colour had to fall into the right place to make the whole feel harmonious. This is a core principle of Bauhaus, where art and design should not only be visually appealing, but also functional and structured. For me, this artwork is an exploration of how simplicity and complexity can go hand in hand, without compromising the strength of the design.
