From the top of the Duomo di Milano, high above the city's bustling streets, a breathtaking panorama unfolds that encompasses not only Milan, but also the intimate beauty of the cathedral itself. This vantage point, accessible via narrow stairs or a lift that takes you to the roof terraces, offers a rare perspective on the architectural splendour of the Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece that has been in the making since 1386 and was not fully completed until 1965. Standing at this height, at about 108.5 metres where the Madonnina - the gilded statue of the Virgin Mary - towers proudly above it all, you look down on a forest of spires, arches and sculptures that together form a symphony of stone and light, a testament to the genius and dedication of the craftsmen who built this monument.
