Frida considered her father a great role model and influence. She painted him next to his camera in 1951. At the bottom she wrote: 'I painted my father Wilhelm Kahlo, a Hungarian-born, professional photographer and artist, with a generous, intelligent and fine character, courageous because he suffered from epilepsy for 60 years, but never stopped working, and he fought against Hitler, with love, his daughter Frida".
