Frederik Hendrik Kaemmerer (1839-1902) was a Dutch painter who is best known for his romantic genre scenes and impressionist works. He was born in The Hague and initially studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts before continuing his training in Paris at the École des Beaux-Arts. There he was strongly influenced by French Impressionism. Kaemmerer painted elegant society scenes, historical motifs and light-flooded landscapes. His works are characterised by fine colouring, soft lighting and atmospheric realism.
