In Greek mythology, Europa was a Phoenician princess who was the object of lustful interest by the supreme god Zeus. She was the daughter of the royal couple Agenor and Telephassa and the sister of Cadmus.
According to the most famous version of the story, the young Europa was playing with her friends one day on the beach near Sidon when Zeus was struck by the girl's charms. In order to escape the eye of his wife Hera, but also not to scare the girl with his divine appearance, Zeus transformed himself into a white bull. When Europa playfully climbed on the back of the magnificent, friendly-looking animal, he walked with her into the sea and swam with her to the island of Crete.
Here the young woman sits topless on the back of the ox. Both breasts of the girl are exposed or naked. Around her are her friends, other girls, but also hedgehogs, putti as cupid.
