Fragile Strength – Light and Smoke around a Tragopogon by Marjolijn van den Berg

This photo: "Kwetsbare kracht - Licht en rook om een Tragopogon" is a macro shot of a beautiful golden-brown fluffy ball of a Tragopogon (also known as ‘Morgenster’ in the Netherlands). Smoke swirls around this fluffy ball. Take a close look at the details of this fluffy ball and see how beautiful the almost symmetrical shape is and the sense of tranquillity it radiates. In this particular photograph, the soft, dancing smoke around the delicate fluff created precisely that mystical and warm atmosphere that I love so much. The golden, olive-green and sepia tones, and the contrast between the clean lines of the fluff and the organic smoke, give the image a soft and dreamy quality. The relatively shallow depth of field also contributes to this effect.
