This former Roman Catholic orphanage (Roomsch Catholijk Weeshuijs) on Verdronkenoord in Alkmaar was designed in 1818 by city architect Willem Hamer. After the closure of the orphanage, the building was used as accommodation for the R.C. nursery school Don Bosco until 1979. From 1981 to late 2013, the theater and film house Provadja was located in the building. Provadja was founded in 1971 in Alkmaar as one of the first film houses in the Netherlands. In 2017 the building was sold to a project developer who will build 13 apartments in it.
