About "Ford Galaxie 2nd generation barn find"

About the artwork

The second-generation Ford Galaxie was produced from 1965 to 1969 and is a classic example of American full-size cars of the time. This generation of the Galaxie was characterised by a striking, elegant design that was both sporty and luxurious.

The Galaxie was available in various body styles, including saloon, estate and the popular hardtop coupé. Particularly striking were the wide, flowing lines and the characteristic headlights, which gave the vehicle a powerful appearance. The 2nd generation was largely devoid of ornamentation, with only the front and rear sections still featuring a few chrome-plated decorative elements.

The Ford Galaxie also became very popular due to its many participations in US motorsport, such as NASCAR, where it was also extremely successful. In 1963, Ford's Galaxie took twenty-three Grand National NASCAR victories and the top five places at Daytona. The Galaxie's success in motorsport helped to cement the model's image as a powerful and reliable car. Today, many car enthusiasts and collectors appreciate the Galaxie's connection to racing history, and many restored models can be seen at classic car events and shows.

In the background is a 1948 Studebaker Champion, both of which have been stored in a huge shed for over 50 years.
