A long avenue of trees disappears in a thick layer of fog. It is winter, and along the path is a thin layer of snow and hoarfrost - just enough to turn the landscape white. The trees, bare and dark, stand in tight rows and seem to disappear into the grey background.
The atmosphere is quiet and almost ghostly. You can't see the end of the path, and that gives the image something exciting. Everything is subdued: little colour, little detail, but precisely because of this, the structure of the trees and the path comes out strongly.
What struck me was how the mist and hoarfrost together changed the landscape. An ordinary avenue suddenly became something graphic and dreamlike - without it feeling manufactured.
Do you see this image as a powerful winter statement on the wall - or as a quiet backdrop in a hallway or study?
