Fog Over the Peaks – The Dramatic Landscape of Antarctica by Nanda Bussers

An impressive panorama of steep, snow-capped peaks rising from the icy Southern Ocean. A low band of grey mist cuts horizontally across the landscape, accentuating the depth and immense height of the mountain range. In the foreground, rugged ice floes drift in the dark water, creating a layered image of the elements that dominate this continent. The monochrome tones and the threatening sky capture the raw, untamed atmosphere of a polar region where the forces of nature are ever-present.

Antarctica: A world of silence and light
In 2024, I travelled to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica. A world that you can only truly understand when you are there yourself.
What struck me most there was the silence. In that endless expanse of ice, wind and light, everything naturally falls silent. As if everything slows down: time, your thoughts, even your breathing. With my camera, I have tried not only to show what it looks like, but above all how it feels to be there.
From this journey, I have selected 32 images that, for me, capture the essence of that experience. Images of stillness, space and the fragile power of nature.
I invite you to pause for a moment and let yourself be carried away into that world of silence and light.
