About the artwork

Overall, this artwork is an impressive representation of heat and brightness and a change in the world's climate towards more unpredictable warmth. We must stop global warming if we are to survive intact as a human race. It reminds the viewer how intense nature can be and how colours and light can affect the mood of a scene. It is a play of the senses that makes the heat palpable and immerses the viewer in a world of intense warmth.

The present depiction reveals an impressive play of colours and elements, with the focal point in the lake at the bottom right. The scene radiates intense heat, which is intensified by the dominant yellow and orange. It is as if one is looking at a thermal image that captures the glowing heat of a hot day.

The yellow image that pervades the entire scene creates an almost palpable warmth and is reminiscent of the heat of the sun. The rays of light streaming from the centre of the painting seem like the intense rays of the midday sun, bathing everything in glistening light.

The aforementioned lake, which is also steaming, is the centrepiece of this scene. It draws the eye... The spiral of the sky is reminiscent of a rise of heat and gives the scene an almost unreal quality. The clouds opening on the spiralling one reinforce this.

Near the lake are some rocks and a small village with houses that seem to flicker from the heat. This underlines the intensity of the scene and the effects of the heat on the surroundings.
