Flyby Gloster Meteor T7 (WA591 / FMK-Q) Registration:G-BWMF The Gloster Meteor was the first operational British jet fighter. The aircraft had been developed by Gloster Aircraft Company but depended mainly on Frank Whittle's pioneering work on the turbojet jet engine. The prototype flew in 1943 but the first examples did not become operational with the Royal Air Force until 12 July 1944. They were used on a limited scale at the end of World War II. The Gloster Meteor was used by many air forces in the 1950s, including the Belgian and Dutch. This picture was taken on 14 June 2013 at Volkel airbase.
