This work is a burst of energy, an explosion of colour that hits you right in the soul. It started with loose scribbles in oil pastels and texts that appeared intuitively on the paper, as if the words and lines were forcing their way out. Then I built layer upon layer. Indian ink flowed through, dark and stubborn, as if the contrast was needed to make the colours sing even louder.
I applied acrylic paint thickly with dried leftovers from old palettes that I gave new life. Every piece of paint that would otherwise disappear in the trash got a stage here. This makes the work playful and powerful - a celebration of imperfection that is, precisely because of that, real.
The layering ensures that you always discover something new: a hidden line, a colour that is hidden, or an unexpected shape that suddenly turns out to be a face. It is abstract, but there is a cheerful cheekiness in it, a portrait that does not want to be good, but cries out for attention.
