A figure is at the centre of the composition, captured at the moment when she puts a burning object in her mouth. The focus is slightly off-centre, which lends the image additional tension.
The colour scheme is deliberately rich in contrast. Warm tones such as red, orange and yellow dominate the fire and the skin areas, while cool blue tones - especially in the hair - create a counterbalance. The background is kept dark, with a subtle dot pattern that creates depth without distracting from the main motif.
