Fine Art Katerveer Bridge – Abstract Architecture on the IJssel by Fotografiecor .nl

This fine art photograph focuses on the graphic essence of the Katerveer Bridge (Oude IJssel Bridge). By using a slow shutter speed, the movement of the water has been frozen, transforming the river into an abstract canvas. The bridge acts as a powerful, geometric element that contrasts with the soft, almost surreal reflection and the dreamlike sky. The result is a minimalist image in which architecture and nature merge into a timeless composition.

My approach to this series focuses on translating robust infrastructure into pure visual language. With the Katerveer Bridge, I specifically sought the moment when the steel arch touches the water; here, the bridge becomes more than a connection — it becomes an abstract form within the landscape. It is a celebration of contrast: the hard, dark iron set against the soft, light-reflecting IJssel.

This work is best appreciated as a large fine art print on high-quality matt photo paper or mounted behind acrylic glass. Thanks to its minimalist composition and strong contrast, it makes a powerful statement in a modern interior, where the tranquillity of the image transforms the space into a serene gallery.
