During a summer walk at Park Amstelglorie (Amsterdam, Netherlands), I came across this beautiful purple verbena. Park Amstelglorie is a special place, with many vegetable gardens, fruit trees, ornamental gardens and ponds. This verbena bonariensis, or iron hardy, attracts many bees and butterflies because of its abundance of nectar. So it is a great plant for biodiversity in the park. With the long stems that can grow up to 1.5 metres tall, you get a field of purple flowers.
