Fantastic evening atmosphere on the Gulf of Porto with the red rocks of the Calanche in the foreground. The picture was taken on a warm summer evening on the French island of Corsica.
The Gulf of Porto, a Unesco natural heritage site, is a scenic gem on the rugged west coast of Corsica. The picturesque bay is framed by reddish cliffs, which are interrupted in many places by small bays with hidden beaches. The Gulf of Porto has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, together with the famous Scandola nature reserve in the north and the Calanches de Piana mountain region.
The picture shows the Gulf of Porto with the red granite rocks in the foreground. In the hazy background, the coastline of the Scandola marine reserve, which can only be explored by boat from the water, can be vaguely recognised.
