Digital Art; Magdalena Carmen Frida y Calderón, better known as Frida (6 July 1907 - 13 July 1954), was a prominent Mexican painter. She is best known for her penetrating self-portraits and works deeply rooted in Mexican culture, nature and artefacts. Frida drew strong inspiration from the popular culture of Mexico and employed a naïve folk art style. Through this, she explored complex themes such as identity, post-colonialism, gender, class and race within Mexican society. A tragic bus accident at 18 caused lifelong pain and limitations for Kahlo. During her three-month recovery, chained to her bed, she discovered her passion and talent for painting.
