About the artwork

Illustration or drawing of a well-known saga from Germany.

The story begins with the introduction of Sifrid (Siegfried), whose strength and wealth (the legendary Nibelungenhort) are given almost superhuman proportions, and his arrival in Worms, where he is received at the court of Günther. With Günther, he takes on the Saxons and then travels to Iceland to win the legendary and unbeatable Prünhilt (Brünnhilde) as a bride. Because Günther will not be able to defeat Prünhilt in a direct duel, Sifrid disguises herself in order to take his place and thus decide in favour of the Burgundians. This ruse will cost him dearly later on, since in his secondary sleep he takes from Prünhilt a ring and her silk belt, which will later be used as proof of adultery.

This story recurs in the film Django Unchained by Quentin Tarantino with Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The art nouveau or art nouveau (art-nouveau written in compositions) is an art movement that was popular in various places in Europe between 1890 and 1914.

Franz Stassen (February 12, 1869 in Hanau; April 18, 1949 in Berlin) was a German painter, draftsman and illustrator. From 1886 to 1892 Stassen studied at the Berlin University of Fine Arts. After leaving the academy he initially settled in Hanau, but returned to Berlin some time later. Initially focused on naturalism, Stassen now turned to Art Nouveau.
