Evening tranquillity at Schellinkhout – A traditional tjalk on the Markermeer

by Dylan Winter Visuals

ARTWORK: ‘QUIET LUXURY ON WATER’

Experience the ultimate peace and tranquillity of the Dutch waterways with this atmospheric image of a classic tjalk on the lake, captured at Schellinkhout near Hoorn in the West Friesland region (North Holland) under a serene summer evening sky. In this sweeping, horizontal composition – photographed from a low angle just above the water’s surface in the middle of the Markermeer – time seems to stand still for a moment. The silhouette of the tjalk is perfectly centred, with the straight dyke on the horizon stretching from left to right acting as a guide line towards the sailing ship and creating a powerful, soothing sense of balance.

The minimalist approach of this work brings a serene tranquillity to any interior. The ship forms a beautiful contrast with the soft, pastel-coloured evening light of the setting sun over this former Zuiderzee, which later became part of the IJsselmeer. This unique, ultra-low-angle view from the water showcases the absolute emptiness of nature and focuses on the boat and the historic West Frisian Omringdijk with a few trees, exuding a deep, mysterious character.

This modern, finely finished fine art piece by Dylan Winter Visuals is an authentic photographic image, captured with a Sony camera in the great outdoors, 100 per cent without AI. The scene stands out for its delicate palette of mauve, grey, lilac and pink in the sky, making this statement piece a fabulous addition to a hallway, a luxurious living room or a serene bedroom. Curated for high-end interior design projects and corporate art, this minimalist print is ideal as a triptych or gallery wall above a sideboard or sofa. An exclusive piece featuring Dutch nature.
