About ‘Evening on the quiet square’ by Geert Van Baelen

In this work, I bring a tranquil village square to life, bathed in the soft light of evening. The wet cobblestones reflect the golden glow from the windows, while the brick facades and weathered details whisper a story of time and tradition. On the left, the crucifix stands guard against the church wall, a silent witness to generations who have passed by here. On the right, the illuminated tattoo studio window invites new stories — a subtle encounter between past and present.

The composition plays with contrast: the sacred alongside the everyday, the historical alongside the contemporary, the cool blue-grey of the sky contrasting with the warm amber of the interior light.

For this work, I started with a photograph I took of this place myself. From that personal starting point, I further developed and enhanced the image, shaping it into an atmospheric, almost painterly interpretation in which reality and imagination merge. The result is a city portrait that invites you to linger and add your own memories.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
