You see here a reed landscape in the immediate vicinity of Kinderdijk, somewhat my backyard. The light from the setting sun played beautifully through the different layers of reeds. You can feel the evening warmth radiating off the photo, so to speak. This photo was taken while carrying out a personal photo project on reeds in response to a poem by Guido Gezelle entitled: 0, 't rustling of the slender reeds. The first verse reads as follows:
O! 't rustling of the slender reed!
O did I know thy sad song!
When the wind sweeps past you
And bendingly stirs thy culms,
Ye bow, humble, down,
Rise and bow humble again,
and sing while bowing 't sad song,
That I love, O slender reed!
It is worth looking it up on the internet for a while. It inspired me to make pictures to accompany the verses. This is my favourite because here you can feel the words "sad", "bending" and "humble" in the dark colours with the bending culms. The "loving" is depicted in the warm yellow and orange tones.
