Joséphine Baker, stage name of Freda Josephine McDonald (Saint Louis (Missouri), June 3, 1906 - Paris, April 12, 1975) was a dancer, singer and actress.
The artist debuted in New York and she on Broadway in the early 1920s. After this she performed in Europe and South America, in Paris for the first time in 1925, including at the Folies Bergère. During this time she also appeared almost naked on stage and became famous for her banana skirt and her erotic dances.
The woman is pictured here nearly naked with the famous banana skirt, topless with her torso and breasts exposed and with a big smile.
