The fish market is a historic square in the heart of Erfurt, surrounded by magnificent town houses and the town hall. Especially at Christmas time, this place becomes an atmospheric meeting point between tradition and urban life.
My inspiration was to combine the dynamism of the city with the tranquillity of the architecture. The black and white aesthetic reduces the image to contrasts and lines - colour would have been more of a distraction here.
The atmosphere is lively, but not hectic. The image conveys a sense of movement in a historical context - a brief moment in the flow of time.
In an interior, this work acts as an urban eye-catcher. It combines classic architecture with modern imagery and is particularly suitable for rooms that seek clarity, depth and a connection to the city.
