The picture shows a street scene on Erfurt Cathedral Square with a view of historic buildings in the typical half-timbered style. The façades are colourful - in green, yellow and red - and house small shops and restaurants on the ground floor, including the traditional "Wurstküche". A large, leafless tree on the right frames the picture, while parked cars and a taxi rank with a blue sign capture everyday urban life. The scene appears lively without being overloaded.
The cathedral square in Erfurt is one of the largest and most important historic city squares in Germany. It lies at the foot of Erfurt Cathedral and is characterised by a mixture of medieval architecture and urban life. This combination was also my inspiration: to visualise the juxtaposition of past and present.
I wanted to create an atmosphere that feels authentic - a moment from everyday life that captures the special atmosphere of this place. Not a staging, but an honest look at a piece of the city's history.
In interior design, this work brings colour, structure and a touch of urban history to the room. It is particularly suitable for people with a connection to Erfurt or an interest in historical urban architecture.
