The photo shows 3 distinctive towers of Enschede. From old to new, the Grote Kerk (c 1200) on the old market, the city hall (1930) and the Alphatoren (2008). Wherever you are in Enschede, there is always one tower in sight.
At 101 metres, the Alphatoren is the tallest building in Overijssel.
The Old Church in the foreground dates from the year 1200, when Enschede was still a village. Enschede received city rights in the year 1300.
The church stands on the Old Market and is surrounded by cosy cafes's with their terraces. It is always a pleasant stay here.
The Alphatoren was literally a highlight of Enschede. This tower can be seen in the wide surroundings of Enschede.
The city hall was built in the years 1930 to 1933 to the design of ir. G. Friedhoff at a location where city halls had stood since the sixteenth century.
Photography is my passion. I live in Enschede, in the beautiful province of Twente. But I don't limit myself to Twente with my photography. I like to go out for a day to get the perfect picture and when I travel I always take my camera with me!.. Read more…
