About "Enchanting coastline of Sant'Alessio Siculo in Sicily"

About the artwork

This photographic nature shot on the east coast of Sicily in the small fishing village of Sant' Alessio Siculo was taken in the morning hours of 18 April 2012 during my Easter trip with the Nikon D90.

Sant'Alessio Siculo is a town in the metropolitan city of Messina in the region of Sicily in Italy with 1527 inhabitants.
Sant'Alessio Siculo, a former fishing village, is located north of Taormina and 40 kilometres southwest of Messina on the coast of the Ionian Sea.
The village lies on the Messina-Siracusa railway line. Due to its extensive sandy beaches and proximity to Taormina, a modest tourist industry has developed in recent years. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture and tourism.
The neighbouring municipalities are Casalvecchio Siculo, Forza d'Agrò, Santa Teresa di Riva and Savoca.
Until the unification of Italy under Garibaldi, the town belonged to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Sant'Alessio Siculo has been an independent municipality since 1848. Until this year, the town formed a municipality with Forza d'Agrò.
