About ‘Enchanted castle ruin’ by Times of Impermanence
I took this abandoned castle in France a few years ago. It dates back to the mid-19th century, it was abandoned in the 1970s for unknown reasons and has been left to its own devices ever since.

I’m Paul, and since 2016 I have been photographing abandoned places across Europe under the name “Times of Impermanence”. My travels have taken me to around 3,000 such places in 27 countries – from villas and castles to theatres, places of worship and disused industrial sites. My photography focuses on the beauty of decay, extraordinary architecture and the interplay between nature and impermanence.
