About the artwork
Like almost all my work, before I start I go into meditation. So too with this painting. Only when it is finished do I see what has emerged. Then I try to put it into words, which is not easy because it is more of a feeling. My experience with people who see my work is that they experience it and, as it were, step into a world they don't yet know. Feeling a painting is a bit different from reasoning it out with your head.
Earth Godess, I made at a time when everything seemed bleak. It is a reminder not to take everything so blood seriously. This Goddess shows the mountains and valleys, which are a metaphor vh life.
The pink/red represents love of self. Here the leaves come back, representing protection.
The turtle behind the Goddess represents wisdom and is associated with stability and deep insights.
The feminine energy oozes from it.
This work is made with lots of dots that recur in almost all my work.
Made on watercolour paper with watercolours and acrylics and div. media.
