Early blossoms in spring.
Spring is just around the corner. Just budding flowers of the Prunus yedoensis. A cherry tree from Japan.
This year the buds already popped open in early March, due to the many hours of sunshine so early in the year. Immediately after that the fresh green leaves appear.
I have placed the flowers against a background of watercolor in a soft yellow and pink color, so that the fragile white flowers stand out beautifully.
As soon as the flowers bloom, so do the insects. Where do they come from so quickly? They seem to be waiting for it.
This is a cherry tree and unfortunately this tree does not produce edible fruit.
But what a wonderful announcement of spring it is each year.
