Still nice that here in the Netherlands we have an amphibian like the tree frog. Normally you often think that these animals are tropical, but these green frogs can just be found in our "backyard. The Dutch tree frog only occurs in a few places here in our country. So they are fairly rare. And fortunately for us they are not poisonous, compared to their tropical brothers. I saw this specimen in the Brabant nature reserve de Mortel.
Although the animal is not unique to our country, this species is found in much of Europe. They like to sit on blackberry bushes and preferably in the sun. They are best found in spring and summer.
This fascinating creature is super good at hiding itself in the blackberry bushes that you don't see it. Until you know what to look for and then suddenly they are in their hundreds.
This particular specimen was sitting nicely atop a bramble leaf taking an extended morning nap. Black and white photography makes this frog even better to see.
