The Cathedral of Sanctissimae Trinitatis is the youngest baroque building in Dresden. Often referred to as the Court Church, it was built between 1739 and 1751 by the Italian architect Gaetano Chiaveri in the Baroque style. With a floor area of almost 4,800 square metres, it is also the largest church building in Saxony. The crypt of the Catholic Cathedral of St Trinitatis on Schloßplatz contains 49 sarcophagi of the Wettin electors and kings and their relatives. The heart of Augustus the Strong also rests here.
