In this painting, imagination literally comes to life. A woman, composed of sea, sky and light, rises from an open book. A red rose rests in her hand, a white bird on her head. In her chest, a boat sails - as if her heart knows a horizon beyond the visible.
This work is an ode to inner worlds. The woman is not a person, but a metaphor for the story that lies within every human being. The book symbolises memory, language, knowledge, but also freedom. The boat stands for desire or direction, and the bird for intuition and hope.
I was inspired by the idea that stories can shape us, just as experiences do. The painting was created at a time when I was thinking a lot about what we carry with us - invisible, but tangible.
The technique consists of acrylic paint in layers, with a combination of brush and palette knife. The ground has remained rough and visible, giving the whole something old and poetic. The warm colours create a balance between tranquillity and symbolism.
Sea Woman and Book is a quiet work that speaks. It invites you to pause, to dream, to remember. It fits into interiors where there is room for reflection, creativity and silence.
