This painting depicts a hushed moment: a dove looking out from a richly decorated Islamic window frame, with the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai in the background. The contrast between the ancient, detailed arch and the modern skyscraper tells a story of past and present coming together. The blue tones of the sky and sea bring a sense of calm, while the warm sand and beige tones of the window provide balance and warmth.
On closer inspection, small details stand out: the subtle shadows in the stonework, the way the dove's wings are accentuated, and the calm undulations of the sea. The work feels cool because of the blue colours, but at the same time warm because of the earth and sand tones, as if you yourself were looking out through this window.
This painting is part of my mini-series 'Dove View', in which a dove always looks down on world-famous places from an old building. In this series, the dove travels from Dubai to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and on to New York, where it beholds both the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge.
My love of travel and other cultures inspired me to bring this series to life using AI. This work is not only a work of art, but also an invitation to reflect on perspective: how we view the world, and how a seemingly small observer, a pigeon, looks out over grand human creations.
