This part of the Voorstraatshaven is next to the Oude Haven also called the Wijnhaven for a while. This may explain the name of the next bridge: the Wijnbrug. This bridge runs from the Voorstraat to the Wijnstraat. Wine was a very important trading product in Dordrecht. This can still be seen in the large warehouses at the harbours in our city and the large houses in the Wijnstraat. In the Netherlands, the urban water system is characterized by a high level of urbanisation and a low level of urbanisation of cities and towns. (So called stacking right). That this has created a lot of wealth may be clear. It has also caused much envy of other cities. The French occupiers have under the motto "freedom, equality and brotherhood" all advantages of Dordt in 1795 taken away forever.
