Dog origami abstract dark colours by TheXclusive Art

This abstract ‘origami dog’ painting in dark colours depicts the portrait of a dog, constructed from dozens of sharp, triangular planes reminiscent of folded paper. The face and chest are filled with shades of pink, coral, orange, purple and light blue, whilst the floppy ears, in red and soft pink, stand out against the background. The large, amber-coloured eyes look directly and friendly at the viewer and form the focal point of the composition. The background consists of overlapping planes in dark grey, black and steel blue, making the dog’s bright colours stand out even more vividly. The sharp fold lines and the interplay of light and shadow give the portrait a playful, almost three-dimensional depth.

Vibrant shades of pink and orange against a bold, dark backdrop make this painting a striking and cheerful piece with plenty of character and a contemporary feel.

The cubist and geometric design of this portrait is reminiscent of the tradition of origami and of modern low-poly illustrations, in which a familiar animal is reduced to sharp, recognisable shapes.

For lovers of dogs and modern art, this makes a wonderful addition to the wall of a living room, hall or study, and it is available in various materials and sizes.
