About "Digital face: decay and reconstruction"

by Klaus Tesching

About the artwork

This work impressively demonstrates the connection between the human form and its digital fragmentation. The model's face is divided into two halves, with the left side alienated by geometric shapes and coloured blocks, while the right side remains almost untouched in its natural beauty. The clear division symbolises the duality of man and technology, which are increasingly merging in the modern world.

The strong colours - bright pink, deep blue and warm yellow tones - contrast with the soft shades of the skin and the perfectly drawn lips. The interplay of light and shadow is particularly striking, breaking through the strict geometric structure on the left and giving the image a three-dimensional depth.

The work thematises the fragility of human identity in the digital age, in which the boundaries between the natural and the artificial are becoming increasingly blurred. The sharp, technical lines represent the cold precision of technology, while the right side of the face embodies the unaltered essence of the human. The viewer is invited to reflect on the increasing digital penetration of human existence and to ask themselves how much of their own identity remains untouched.
