In south-east Iceland, the glaciers still reach almost to the Atlantic Ocean. When the icebergs hit the surf, they are neatly broken into small pieces of ice and thrown back onto the beach. These pieces of clear ice (diamonds) together with the black volcanic beach create an almost surreal picture.
