The Edge is an office building in the Kenniskwartier neighbourhood on Gustav Mahlerlaan on the Zuidas in Amsterdam. The name The Edge refers to the technological edge the building offers and also to the shape of the building, which slopes at an oblique angle to the A10 on the north side along the atrium. London-based architects Lee Polisano and Ron Bakker (PLP Architecture) designed the 40,000-square-metre office. Through frequent use of glass, they aimed to create a light and transparent building. The building is occupied by business services provider Deloitte and law firm AKD.
Because no direct sunlight was shining on the buildings when the photo was taken, a blue tinge is created in the windows. Photographing the building from the corner and also including the reflection in the windows of the adjacent building creates three different planes in the photo.
