In the soft light of the morning or evening sun, the silent landscape of the Sinai Desert unfolds. In the foreground, you can see stacks of loose sandstone layers and wind-shaped patterns in the sand. Between these natural lines lies a low stack of stones, possibly a marker or simple structure. In the distance, the distinctive nawamis are visible: round prehistoric stone structures, presumably used as tombs or ritual sites.
Dating from the Chalcolithic era, between 4000 and 3150 BC, nawamis are a rare and enigmatic remnant of human presence in an inhospitable area. This image captures the transition between man and nature, between stillness and history.
The composition invites slowing down: the layered rocks, open landscape and soft colours together tell the story of time, erosion and memory. An image that radiates tranquillity while raising questions about what once was.
