In the world, more than fifty different species of deer. Our country three deer species: Red Deer, Fallow Deer and Roe. Red deer and Fallow deer live in the Netherlands most of the Hoge Veluwe and especially in the Ardennes in Belgium and the High Fens. Roe deer live in the most forest edges lying beside meadows. They come across the Netherlands. Their diet consists mainly of: grasses, bark, twigs, young shoots and leaves.
A stag deer is called a female deer Hinde and a young calf. A herd of deer called a Roedel and the few times you call Bronze Age. A deer is between eight and twenty years old and Hinde gets one to four young per pregnancy. The deer are among the ruminants. The Red deer are also called the kings of the forest.
