Deep purple painting a la Rothko.
In Houston, Texas there is the so-called Rothko Chapel. It is a spiritual space where you can come to yourself while surrounded by paintings by Mark Rothko.
Red is not the color of love, red seems eternity, like a depth without end. It is the emotional power of colors, which Rothko also uses in his chapel.
Rothko created paintings for a deep, intense color experience.
The dark works form a cocoon, creating an intimacy that forces introspection. Rothko's purple brings you to yourself.
Mark Rothko did not want to be seen as an abstract artist. He said, "If you value my work only for its color relationships, you are missing the point. I am only interested in expressing basic human emotions: tragedy, ecstasy, downfall." For him, colors were the means, not the end.
