Decorative folk art fish with flowers (AI) (maritime, beach house, coastal style, cheerful)

by Natalie Bruns

This cheerful watercolour painting depicts two decorative fish in a Scandinavian folklore style, surrounded by flowers, leaves and elegant ornaments. The playful patterns on the fish give the painting a friendly feel. The small floral details on the scales, the subtle dots and the red heart between the fish make the work particularly charming. The simple shapes and symmetrical composition give the painting an air of calm and balance.

The colour palette consists mainly of deep blues, light blue, cream, soft red and muted greens. These colours give the work a fresh yet warm feel, reminiscent of the sea, nature and traditional folk art. Despite its decorative style, the painting remains light and serene thanks to the soft watercolour texture and the light background.

This watercolour work is inspired by Scandinavian folklore, in which simple forms, graceful floral motifs and decorative birds come together to form a warm and narrative image. The style is deliberately playful and stylised, with soft colours and folkloric details reminiscent of traditional folk art. As a result, the work fits beautifully into a cosy, rustic or Scandinavian interior, but also in a child’s bedroom or creative space where softness and imagination take centre stage.

Within this folklore series, I have incorporated several animals, including a whale, fox, cat, alpaca, deer, butterfly and various owls. All the works can be found in my personal shop under the album “creative mix”.

My love of animals and my interest in other cultures and art styles have inspired me to create this series of paintings using AI.
