Tristan and Isolde (Cornisch:Tristan ac Yseult) is a medieval legend whose origin probably dates back to the 7th or 8th century. The story was rewritten several times in the courtly novels of the Middle Ages and spread throughout the whole of Europe at that time. The names of the heroes of the story may vary from variant to variant. For Tristan one can find Tristram, Tristran and Tristrem while Isolde is also written as Eselt, Iseut, Iseult, Yseult, Isolt, Ysolt, Ysonde and Ysolde.
The first is the king's champion, his vassal, his most special warrior. He is also expected to provide stability in the future, i.e. succession with the woman in the story. The bond between the ruler and the champion is loyalty and honor, the bond with the woman is sex.
Here the man and the woman are caught while the lovers are lying in the garden. The woman is wearing a sexy transparent sheer dress where her breasts are visible because she is lying topless.
Rogelio de Egusquiza y Barrena (1845 - 10 February 1915) was a Spanish painter.
