About ‘Daughters of the Resistance’ by Shireen Koch

In *Daughters of Resistance*, you see a group of powerful Black women looking directly at the viewer with an intense blend of pride, weariness and determination. Their weathered clothing, dusty skin and sturdy hats speak of a past marked by struggle, survival and solidarity. The dark, smoky background enhances the dramatic atmosphere, whilst the warm light on their faces reveals hope and humanity. Each woman wears a different expression, as if every face tells its own story.

Inspiration: This work stems from my interest in the forgotten stories of Black women throughout history. Often their voices go unheard, even though they have carried generations with strength and courage. I wanted to create an image that feels like a cinematic moment from a story that was never fully told. The earth tones, textures and painterly digital technique give the work a raw and emotional feel.

Atmosphere & Emotion The atmosphere is powerful, intense and almost cinematic. The work evokes feelings of resilience, connection and quiet strength. Despite the sombre atmosphere, it also radiates pride and dignity.

In interiors: This artwork brings character, depth and emotion to a space. It fits beautifully into modern interiors, creative studios or spaces where art is allowed to tell a story and have a strong presence.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
